Chicken Math?

My chicken math experience stays in the single digits but still...

Note: This all started while I was doing some yard work one day in the middle of march this year and realized that about this time every year one of the local feed stores does the magnificent "free chick day". My mother was scared by an angry, old rooster that chased her as a child and has hated chickens since. But my dad on the other hand had a happy little flock and loved them.... see the leverage. So making a long story short we went from no chickens, and no plans of chickens to the following chicken math in about two weeks!

City said only 3 officially, but if the neighbors don't care you can have more.... :)!! (Thus are dear neighbor is soon to be happily bribed with fresh eggs)

So we went to "free chick day got five, but two were leghorns, and I wanted friendly breeds (to prove to my mom that chickens can be nice), so we got two rhode island reds 5 + 2 = 7 then I learned that some of the best layers were australorps so back to the feed store to get a pair of them 7+ 2 =9!

One turned out to be a rooster, so he had to go or that could spoil the whole flock...

Ever since we got those first chicks I've been on this awesome website and now want ducks and at least one BO, but I don't think it will get to happen anytime soon....
