How far away from the house?

My coop is 70yds from the back door. This was by choice, as I built off an existing out building. I have 45 hens and 4 roosters at the moment, and the roosters can get a bit annoying. Being 70yds away (before they are let out at 4:30 am) they noise it not bad. As for smell, I have a 600sqft full enclosed run they only gets used during inclement weather, or when predator load is high. The coop get the deep litter treatment, and cleaned out 2x a year. I have a poop board with sand and sweet PDZ which has been wonderful for keeping the smell/ammonia down. It gets cleaned out (usually) on my Saturday.

“OP” of the quoted text here....this coop and run is literally under my back deck. Though, I don’t actually see a question so not sure what was being asked.

My new coop is roughly 75 feet from our house, but it’s a straight shot from our gate back for getting feed out there and the hose runs right to it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

my coop is 87 yards from my house ......not by choice , but it is working out well ! i dont always wanna get up at sunrise !! roos can get loud in the morning .... i can hear my neighbors and he is at least 2 football fields away !!!!!! the smell aint bad yet , (this summer will be my first) . i have a well ventilated ( maybe over ventilated) coop . i clean my coop every 2 weeks (new hay and scrape everything hard clean !) the more often you clean it the less it will smell .......its when you let it go for a while that it realy starts to stink !!!!! good luck and keep us posted on your progress !!
Not true. I only clean my coop 2x a year. Deep litter method. No smell. The I ly time I ever noticed a smell was when we had a blowing rain and it got wet inside.
