The Legbar Thread!

Pics
I have heard that Legbars can be delayed in laying depending when they come into point of lay, especially if it occurs during the shorter, colder days. I think mine is laying (VERY sporadically) but due to a house fire all my birds are in one single coop so it'll be March before I even think about incubating. My male may have no points by then as my Black and Splash Coppers and that Male Legbar have serious frostbite this year. Expecting a second pair soon but gotta get back into the house first. My female legbar just missed being swept up by our resident hawk. My husband heard her and came out just in time to see the hawk drop her, came back and got one of my Black Copper girls tho' - I think my darkest layer

so I'll be hatching those too. Put some netting up and things have been calm out there since but....

I just came across Legbars the other day and fell in love. The cost is killing me! I might be able to convince my husband to let me get them if i can sell some of the fertilized eggs to cover the cost. I have never done that before. Am I crazy??? Could i get my money back selling fertilized eggs?

I finally figured out how to post pictures. They are a male and female chick and then my order from Greenfire. You can really see the females easily in the picture with their chipmunk stripes. The rest of the chicks are swedish flower hens.

Well, I had to jump in! These are so cute and I was ready for a new breed to work on. My order just arrived this morning. I have 9 girls and 3 boys. I can't wait to watch them grow up!

I am new, and going to read through all the posts... Can I get a pic of a grown hen and rooster?

Also whats egg/feed ratio of these birds? I am very very interested in them from what I have read so far.
