I liked the German Pointer option, except when it got really cold. My male had trouble when temperatures dropped below 0 F. Otherwise that dog was awesome around chickens and he taught me a lot. Another downside is he would over commit going after Coyotes. That never caused real issues because Coyotes knew him, but it could have been bad if he were alone. I really like the combination of a German Pointer inside with dog door and English Shepherds outside. The German POinter is better than I can hearing what English Shepherds are doing and the German Pointer alerts me while going out to back up the English Shepherds.
