Chicks At TSC - Commercial Black - Not Like The Others

There are some "mystery" chicks being sold and they are not all the same mix. Whatever I got (on rather a lark) are growing like nothing I've ever seen before, and that saying a lot. They are not the typical BSL we've seen in the past. I've had lots of those and know them well.

Mine are perhaps different from what you got, but time will tell. I'm sure most will indeed be fair to good layers. As adults, they may exhibit traits and looks that give us more of a clue. Perhaps tomorrow, I'll post an updated photo. This one is a week old.

Has anybody figured out what exactly these chicks were? I got some and the roosters are huge and they don't look like anything I've seen anywhere. I think they are ugly. FWIW, they were labeled as Black Australorps at the TSC in Columbus OH. They most definitely are NOT Australorps. The roos at 14 weeks were bigger than my light Brahma hens. We are going to process the roos and sell the pullets. I just don't like them at all.

Well mine that I got have all black and yellow on their butt with some on the tip of their wing. They have no white on their head. I Didn't know about commercial blacks I thought that was just a color or something. But mine were called commercial blacks but don't really match the description with the white on the head.
