Hey yall,

I have some RIRs that are about 3weeks old and I am building them a coop. How big should the door be for them to get out to the run? Thanks

Well certainly big enough for them when they are full size. I think my coop door is approximately a foot wide by a foot and a half tall. That is a rough guesstimate though. You don't want it too big though as to keep out bigger predators like fox or coyotes. I am not sure what other predators you have but if you have smaller like moles or raccoons they might still be able to get in. Chickens can amazingly squeeze in a lot smaller space than you think they can.

My chicken book recommends 10"Wx13"H unless you have a really large breed in which case you'd want to increase it an inch or two.
