Treatment for raccoon bite

Help! Stingrayg4's post has given me hope, but I don't know if it is misplaced. A raccoon took a sizeable chunk out of my Ameraucana before we scared it away. At first we couldn't see the wound, but I lifted her wing and suddenly could see space between the ribs and what looked like unpenetrated organs underneath. There was very little blood lost, and she got up and walked away. This morning when I went out she was GONE! She had flown into the orchard with the other chickens like she does every day. Is there hope for her, with a hole that bad, or should I just put her down? I really love this bird, and want to hold out hope. Should I give her Furazone and see? Any other advice to give her a chance?

The local feed stores carry an ointment called Furazone. I've used this stuff to treat all kinds of injuries to all kinds of animals (including a chicken that had a huge chunk torn out of it by a raccoon). Works great.

Online I saw that Furazone is a carcinogen... Any suggestions for other good stuff?
