any cattle people out there!!!

Well thankyou so much for all the sites. I do think mini cattle would be better because as I said my husband is dead set against it, so I would have to manage everything all on my own. That and I have a very nice farmer friend gentleman that I buy hay from that would help with vacs or IA or veterinary stuff, if need be. But I dont want to bother him much as he is very busy. He has Angus cattle. They are huge, and handsome. I have to admit I eyeball them something fierce every time I am over his way. This does not help with the wanting cattle again thing.

We have friends in the Dallas area, and I called them with a y'all, allright?!? Aparently they were, but geesh, I was worried. They have around 50 head of horses, and thats alot of water. Anyways hope things look up for you, and you get those bossies bred.

Thanks for all replies I gotta start somewhere.

We have 2 Holstein bull calves that we will raise as steers. We got the calves form the dairy farm where I work. I am hoping that we can buy a Jersey cow for milk production soon.

The black calf is a month old now, the white one is 2 weeks younger.

I used to raise Texas Longhorns. My line was a heritage line, right off of the Wichita refuge. I would go to the Wichita Mountain sale each spring to buy cows and calves. I had a 20 year old cow who was still getting pregnant every year. I had to sell everyone due to divorce.
I plan to raise them again when I get some land. Lean meat, no calving or fertility issues. Best steak and roast ever.
