Priscilla is a 1.5 year old tom (we thought he was a hen when we first got him, hence the girl's name - it was our first flock!). He grew up with three chicken hens, herding them around and alerting us to any potential predators. He even chased after a fox that tried to take one of our girls.
Unfortunately, Priscilla tries to mount one of our hens and it has gotten to the point that he has seriously injured her. We'd like to find a good home for him, preferably with other turkeys and ideally with another Royal Palm female.
According to Slow Food USA, the "Royal Palm turkey is listed as 'Threatened' in the American Livestock Breeds Conservancys Conservation Priority List. This list defines a Threatened variety as having fewer than 1,000 breeding birds in the US with 7 or fewer primary breeding flocks. These varieties are considered globally endangered."
Let's find this tom a lady! Send me a PM and we can talk via email or phone.
