Hatching and Raising Wild Turkeys

It is a federal law that you can not have a pet that is a native of where you live. You can have wild turkeys just not the local variety. Thats why gray an white polecats are sold here as pets when the natives are the black an white kind. Other parts of the country have gray an whites so the have the black an whites as pets.

I always wipe them lightly with a soft cloth but never with water because the bacteria in the water will get into the egg and possibly kill the chick. I have never lost a chick to bacteria this way.

I also found turkey eggs and was trying to find info on them when i came across this. I was just wondering how ur eggs are doing

Leave those wild turkey eggs alone when you find them. The hen will return when necessary to sit on the eggs. If you manage to hatch them what are you going to do with them? They will die if you release them because they won't understand fear from predators like a flock would teach them. As for you I don't think you realize how much trouble you might get in if you get reported to authorities. Buy you some domestic turkey eggs and let nature take care of the wild birds.

This is not true. There are no federal laws dictating pet ownership exotic or not unless it is that of an endangered species. Most laws regarding what animals can/can not be owned as pets are governed at a local (state) level. For instance there are zero banned animals that can be owned as a pet in the state of Indiana (wild or not). It simple requires an exotic animal permit, which only cost 10$. This permit allows for possession of literally any animal. In the event of a large cat or other large possibly dangerous animal, one is required to send a letter to the residents in their neighborhood to inform of intent. It takes more than half to reply in opposition for you not to be able to.

Not true. The only federally regulated animals are those on the endangered list. Outside of that laws are handled state by state. For instance there are 0 banned animals that can be owned in Indiana. All one needs is a 10$ exotic pet permit.
