I looked into this...the poultry show chow is designed for meat (broiler) birds - wth? How many meat birds are shown vs. layers? I would have had to special order the food and it was something like $25 for a 50 lb bag, so at $10 off two bags, it wasn't a great deal for me.

Very high protein content (26%) and so I didn't use my coupon. However, had I known then what I do now, I might have used it and fed a lot of fruit/veggies at the same time to keep the total diet protein around 20%. I was just afraid with young birds it might cause fast growth problems I wasn't knowledgable enough to counteract.

Anyone else's opinions on using this food with layers would be greatly appreciated by me, since I get quarterly coupons from Purina. Also, anyone's ideas on why a poultry show food would be for broilers rather than layers would help increase my understanding as I thought that was really strange - how many broilers live long enough to be shown?

Thanks.

I get the coupons form Purine for the chickens, horses and goats, but the chicken ones are for Layena. You get to check off what types of animals you have, and I just checked off laying hens, not broilers, so maybe that's why I just get the layena coupons?
