Black East Indie duck

How small are you talking about? I have a small Cayuga, but she is a Cayuga. Only my small runner is smaller than her. My welsh harlequin is even bigger than my Cayuga. Even within breeds you can have smaller and larger birds, kinda like humans.

Very pretty. I would say she is about the same size as my Cayuga but she could be a cross too. Then again mine could be a cross, although I doubt it considering how hard BEI are to find.

She is WAY too big to be an east indie duck. no offense. She might be an east indie; Cayuga mix.

Well I wouldn't say that he is untrustworthy. He just might not know.
X2, you could call him up too and ask specifically what she is and take a look at her parents. It's pretty common for people to get them mixed up. Actually a lot of breeds get mixed up like mallards and rouens by well meaning people. Do some digging around and if he is open about his breeding I don't see a reason to think he is lying.

Howdy!

I was told Ebony is a Black East Indian duck when I bought her as a lil' downball a little over a year ago! Such a pretty green sheen to her (hard to capture in a pic though), and a wonderful steady daily layer! So sweet. Low to the ground and smaller than the rest of the ducks.

I do wonder, though, how reliable the info was of the person whom I bought her from, as some other named breeds from the same person were incorrect. oops.

Whatch'y'all think?

After some more looking and research, I think she's simply a Cayuga.
