Best brand of duck food.

Hi everyone! New comer to byc and I want to say- glad I ran into this thread page! We have been thinking about getting some ducks to add to our household and this was a perfect thread to find to know what to feed them when they get older! :D
I do have one question though, does anyone know what the best duckling feed is?
Any suggestions and knowledge is greatly appreciated! :) <3 thank you guys and gals!

<3 thank you guys and gals!

what is available to you? the biggest problem with feeds is availability varies massively, so what one can get another maybe unable too. Purina, Nutrena are a few brands i know of...

In my country i can get different brands, so my recommendations would be difficult. Do feel free to speak with a local mill, they can assist you if they are worth their salt lol

Here is a sticky on generally feeding of ducklings so you know what your looking for..

I use Southern States Mills Aqua Specialty, 18% Waterfowl feed - $13 per 40lb bag from the local Agway.

Pellets formulated for duckies, and it floats = pool fun!

And I think their marketing tagline is cute to boot...

"...if your flock floats, you need Southern States 18% Waterfowl feed!"

Cheers'

At the moment i m not super sure what is available, we went to get bands at a feed store (one of many thankfully!) Near us and they had no food stuffs for ducks.. -._.- super weird to me! We will be checking a few more places for both the duckling food and adult food. :) thank you for the sticky! I am going to be sure to fav the page for checking things out! <3

When we first got Quackers (s/he is almost 4 weeks old) he came with this:

400

They said that's what ducks eat... I've been trying to figure out what to change his food to. I've been giving him some fresh veggies finely chopped daily, squash, green, red, & romaine lettuce, green pepper, tomato & a couple kibbles of Friskies Indoor cat dry food. Been looking at different feeds & thinking about fermenting it.

My question now is:
What would be better for him...
1) Cat food & fresh veggies

2) This feed fermented http://m.flemingoutdoors.com/gamebird-showbird-feed.html

3) A combination of all

Uhhhh....I really wouldn't feed parakeet food to a duck. Most of it comes in small, hard seeds that your duck can't digest. I recommend Mazuri pellets, it's expensive but it really is the best quality and one bag will go a long way. Good that you're supplementing her food with veggies, that's awesome!
