WHAT IS WRONG: chicks will pip and then after 24 to 30 hrs later they have not got any farther as though they have quit trying to get out the shell. So I have to help them out of shell and when I get the shell off them there is no blood and no attached bilicord or any sighns of being one and the chicks seem to be very weak and can't or won't try to stand up. and have a very low chirp when they do chirp. 2 chicks died within 24 hrs of hatching and 1 now is 2 days old and seems to be very weak it can't run around because it falls over it can stand but not for long and almost acts as though one leg is not as strong as the other. I have another chick in the brooder that is about 3 hrs old it is still not fully dry and it is in the same spot as it was 3 hrs ago the only thing different is instead of it being on it side it is now upright sitting. and is makeing no sound unless I hold it.
AM I NEW AT THIS: no I have hatched over 500 chicks and in the time frame of 5 yrs might have lost 2
WHAT KIND ARE THEY: silkie's and buff orphington
TYPE OF INCUBATOR: still air and have always had a 90 plus hatch rate
TEMP OF INCUBATOR: 98*
WATER RESIVORE: FULL
air hole open
what I am feeding: nutrenea chick starter medicator
what do I think might be wrong: maybe incubator is melfuctioning or a bacteria
WHAT HAVE I TRIED: I have made sure not to put dirty eggs in incubator , keep water in resivore at all times, make sure temp stays between 97 and 98 degrees, they are in my house so I can constanly check on them. I leave them in incubator till totaly dry then put them in a ten gallon fish aquirum with pine shaving for floor and heat lamp with room for them to get away if gets to hot. always have fresh water.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!
