BLUE ISBARS - Pictures and discussion

Thanks for the photo! So cute!
Time for gender guesses.
The one to the far left might be male, my guess is the other three are female.
A month or so and you'll know for sure.
Congratulations :dance

You just pull that out of a hat or is there a secret Isbar day-old sexing formula?

It's very unreliable, because Isbars were not fully "completed" as an auto sexing breed, but they sometimes can still exhibit those signs, supposedly. Far left chick has a pale patch of down on its head. (But some females can too, so it's a guess)

My big dream would be to work with the breed on a large scale and finish the true auto sexing component. But that is a big dream :p

Enjoy your babies! :)

Okay, so I've always been an oddball. I can't possibly be happy with "normal" chickens like Rhode Island Reds or Barred Rocks. No, I have to fall in love with the Blue Black Splash crowd. I just put down a deposit on 4 Isbars for spring, hoping I get 3 pullets and one Roo. Not counting my chickens before they are shipped, though.

I know...and understand. Have BCM & BBS Marans breeders, Rhodebar and Isbar chicks. What's the plan if they are all cockerels?
