What is a poultry show stick? - Page 2

Since no one has answered your question, I took some time to help you find out. They are called Judging Sticks and I found one for sale here: http://www.twincitypoultrysupplies.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=33&products_id=270

Most that seem to come up are in Australia. They appear to be identical to telescopic pointers sometimes used for office presentations, so maybe the same thing might be available at office supply? Not sure as I didn't check that.

Love those Orps!

I don't care why the chicken crossed the road, as long as mine don't!

they are exactly what a lot of people have indicated they are a pointer and some will have a pen at the end of them.  Some Judges will use them to help pose the bird or get a better look, however for showmanship I would not worry about having one.  Poultry Showmanship is about knowledge of poultry, the breeds, having the bird well conditioned, representative of its breed. Handling of the bird is also a big part of showmanship.

Where the pointer would come in is more for bird training esp. Moderns.

The judging pointer would be available for purchase from some of the chicken supply people. It is just a telescoping pencil of chrome. Some breeds of chickens in Bantam and Large fowl are unable to be judged without, a good judge would never think about judging poultry without one. Judge would have it in their shirt or jacket pocket.
