Strange duck

Not all drakes will breed chicken hens. If you have one with strange desires, it would be prudent to separate him from the chickens.

Oh, see now. When I read his post that said "trying to breed with hens"... I assumed duck hens.. Whoops.

And to add, any attempted matings would be unsuccessful. Ducks bodies are made in a way that it would be very very difficult for an actual mating to occur. The only damage that will/can happen is external damage, ie damaged combs or pulled feathers.

This is incorrect information. Drakes can and do penetrate chicken hens when breeding them; hence, the problems are incurred.

Yes, like you said this is because the two unrelated species aren't meant to mate with each other (which is why there genitalia are set up WAY differently, and also why roosters never get Phallus Prostration problems). Now in closing, I think we should finish with the somewhat adult topics such as mating and anatomy...

Like I said, due to the taxonomic differences of the chicken and the duck, an actual mating would prove difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. The closest ducks are with chickens is their class, aves, which is where all birds fall under. This would be like saying a Kiwi could breed with, and penetrate a chicken. Or, for instance, a sparrow. The physical conformation and placement of sex organs on a duck, compared to a chicken, are vastly different; the same as comparing a chicken with a sparrow.
In addition, since the duck is so young, it would be even more difficult for him.
Those reasons alone should be enough..
Do you have any research or proven information saying that a successful mating that occured between a chicken and a duck caused damage to the chicken?

If you are not sure of the quack, look it up on youtube. That's what I did to figure I had one male and one female Pekin. VERY different types of quacks. Females are loud and obnoxious, drakes are very quiet. Our drake only has like 2 feathers that curl in the back, and he's pretty large.
