Is he a Blue Copper Marans?? **PICS**

Hi, need some help from you BYC experts.
I hatched this cockerel from a batch of eggs i bought on ebay. They eggs where supposed to be French Black Copper Marans, i had a bad hatch from them and only 2 hatched. I did get 1 bcm pullet and this cockerel, is he a blue copper marans? And how do you get the blue marans, what do you have to mix to get the blue?

Sorry, some how these pictures didn't go on together, not sure why it's gone on the top of the post. And they are not the best but he is camera shy lol.
 
Looks like a splash to me. If you cross a splash to black, you will always get blue as a result. So, since you look to have a Splash Copper male and Blue Copper female, you'd expect to hatch 50% splash and 50% blue copper as a result of breeding them to one another. If you get your hands on a black copper pullet, you can use your cockerel to hatch out all three colors.

That doesn't look like even a Splash Copper to me. Are his secondary feathers mostly whitish or do they have red in them, too? Because he has quite a reddened breast, I'd say he is a splash wheaten with columbian or some other sort of weird combination.


Blue Coppers were made by crossing blues to black coppers, then taking those blue offspring and back to black copper, and so on, until you get the desired true breeding product. Splashes are from Blue x Blue (whether it be copper or not)
 
When he hatched, i thought he was a wheaton marans as i believe the person i got the eggs from only had copper marans.
I posted on here to ask what he was and i got a mixed reaction, some thought he was wheaton and others thought he was blue and some said splash, so i am confused and would really like to know what his colouring is as i would like to breed him with my other marans. I do have a blue marans hen and his colouring is nothing like hers, his colouring is light grey with very little amount of dark grey and lots of copper on his wings, with smaller amounts of copper splashed over him.
Would love to get a deffinate colouring for him from the experts on here so i can stop wondering.
 
If he has copper in his secondary feathers, he's a Wheaten.

If he has a great amount of copper on the breast, somewhat or entirely extending down to his thighs, he also carries Columbian restrictor.

What are the secondary feathers? i can check him in the morning.
And what is colombian restrictor? sorry for the questions but i am fairly new to chickens and do not know much about marans.

The secondary feathers are the long main ones on the wing that when folded are clearly visible in a triangular shape. Look up "golden duckwing" in google images and that bright white on the wings are the secondary feathers.

Columbian restrictor is a gene that makes colors like Columbian, Buff, Black Tailed Buff, Quail, etc. In Wheaten males it clears up the black breast and changes it over to reddish orange coloration, however if only part Columbian, there can still be some black here and there on the breast and thighs.

I've been out and given him a look over and his primary feathers do have copper on them and also the copper is on his chest going down his legs. It is not entirely copper on the primary feathers, there is a bit of white and grey also, same with the chest and legs, the copper is just splashes down his chest to his legs.
I did google and looked at a lot of pictures, i came across a few pictures of blue wheaten and i would say his colouring is almost the same.
