Please join us if you have a Muscovy hen BROODY in February.

Here it is February 17, 2012. Its about 30 outside at night and a Chocolate Muscovy hen started pulling down and making her a nice warm nest for her eggs. Those eggs are currently two plastic eggs, as we are gathering and selling the hatching eggs at present. We are expecting some White Muscovy eggs shortly, so will keep her stalled until they arrive.

Does anyone else have a nutty Muscovy hen that is wanting to set in the middle of winter?

We sold the Pied at Crossroads. Here is one of our hens.

Here is our drake. Will try and take a photo of her on the nest later and post it here in post #1.

My blue pied Hen, Bleenie has been on a nest of eggs, as of this morning we have 2 beautiful babies! She's a year old this month and this was her second time going broody, first time none of her eggs hatched.

Your chocolate Hen is gorgeous!!! I wish I had a chocolate!

I have "clarified" that the photo is indeed...a BOY!

Thanks for the compliment. We have a limited amount of hatching eggs available. Will be out and about working on coops shortly, so will snap some phone photos of them. Including whoever is on the nest. I just know it won't be him. He is not a good father. Steers clear of any baby duck and its mother. Last year he started getting a bit romantic with a broody. That did not go well in his favor. The next time she came out to drink, eat and poop, he FLED! He stayed hid till she was back on the nest. He is huge. Not afraid of anything...but a broody hen!

I got one too, didn't know she would go broody and gathered all but 2 of her eggs, came into the coop one day and she was showing her down filled nest, then proceeded to steal chicken eggs and now bites me when I try to see what she is actually sitting on.

Now the other one started laying eggs . Gosh it is freezing and only February.

I have one that is attempting but i have strongly discouraged and she's really not fully broody(just dipping her toe in the waters) so it's working out for both of us lol I have 3 drakes here right now. No way, do i want babies especially it being only Feb...

I have a white hen that started to try going broody two days ago. She has 16 eggs as of last night (two are chicken eggs LOL). At the moment, she isn't sitting all the time. Knowing this particular hen, it won't be long and nothing will get her off!

We've got 4 beautiful scovie babies so far today...as of 5 pm another had it's bill poking out of the shell so I can't wait to see it in the morning.

I have two that are broody but we live in AZ so nights are in the high 50's and days are low/mid 70's right now, but better now then when its 110 degrees out side during the summer

My hen Keiko has been sitting on the nest finally

She has recently added downy feathers to this nest and was sitting on it all day.
