I've noticed one out of three of my muscovy ducklings have a little rash on the back of his neck. He keeps scratching with his foot, which probably doesn't help because they have sharp claws...I noticed it a week ago and it's got a bit worse.
I try to leave these things because most of the time they correct themselves. I don't do anything out of the ordinary and they're really healthy otherwise.
One of the girls had a gooey eye a couple weeks ago because she must of scratched it and then it got sore, I freaked out but tried to stay calm and let her heal herself.
In the wild, These animals are washing in pond water, eating loads of bugs, and pooping all over the place, as well as being exposed to lots of infections and diseases and bacteria. I am worried a bit the rash though, he won't leave it alone. I know that these things need to happen, if anything it will make their immune system stronger and make combatting future injuries or infections a lot easier to handle.
BUT saying that If it goes on for another week, I'm going to wash it with some diluted salty water...
