Mckinney TX city law

Good luck with your HOAs!! We ended up moving out of a master planned community because they would not allow backyard chickens. Hope that the rules can be made a little more flexible for our little gals ;)
My neighbor's dog made 100 times more noise than 5 hens could make. Hopefully this forum can facilitate change for y'all

Hi all-new to this forum and wondered if anyone got an answer back from the Stonebridge (aka "Stepford") HOA on chickens?

I wish I'd seen this forum couple months ago since they were having board elections...

I really don't like that the HOA's have so much authority. In Texas they can file a lien that trumps a mortgage-that's obscene!

I understand they want to keep the value of homes up and appearances tidy...but I wish they'd get out of the stone age :(

The subdivision I lived in North of New Orleans had multi-million dollar homes....and chickens were fine as long as you weren't running

"a farm".

Thanks in advance,

Kathryn D.

So I'm in Downtown McKinney with a "small" backyard flock.
But...anyone know anything about turkeys??

The City of McKinney allows up to 8 hens in your backyard.
Stonebridge Ranch does not allow any livestock, including poultry -- page 68 of the CCRs. https://www.stonebridgeranch.com/uploaddocs/cma/website/003/documents.asp
SB told me the reason was because "people might abuse the privilege", and let their chickens roam the neighborhood, you know, unlike dogs. And roaming chickens might form packs and attack people.

Big bummer. Looking to move soon. This place is way too authoritarian...
