Who is setting eggs today - 4/14? - Page 15

My last pip is dead. It started to zip but something went wrong.  I am done with this hatch.  I think I am going to cull my really sick chick. I don't think this batch was successful at all.  Maybe next time will be better!

Hey, Rachel - what did you end up with?  Is your hatch done or are they still going?

I have nothing here but a silent incubator and, depending on how you count it, it's day 22.

This was one of the chicks I helped. He is very big and strong and probably just had a hard time getting out of his little egg. His mom is a Black Copper Marans and his daddy is an Orpington. CUTE!

I finally figured out how to post pictures!  It's so easy - duh!!  Now I just need to learn how to put writing with them.

This is my little guy that I had to help hatch.  He came out of a pullet egg that I probably shouldn't have incubated in the first place.  He was so big and strong that he probably just had trouble getting out of his small egg.

His dad is an Orpington and his mom is  Black Copper Marans.  He is a cutie!!  I'm going to post his little feathered feet next.

So how many did you hatch?  How many did you help out?  I am jealous your helped guy is doing so well--but in a good way.  I am very happy for you that she is doing so well.

I had to help two out.  This one and another that was seriously stuck in his shell.  I hated to do it, but the 2nd one just wouldn't give up and I couldn't just leave him.  His down is still a little matted on his head, but otherwise he's strong and healthy as well.  I ended up with 5 hatched all together.  :)

I did have one last one that I helped.  He wasn't even trying.  I was checking for any last pips and saw his and started messing with him - shouldn't have done that.  It wasn't pretty and he didn't even try to make it.

How is yours doing?

Well my one is OK--but now he has some pooped stuck to his vent so i am thinking I will be dealing with pasty butt soon!  Good fun!  I finally got some vitamin water for him.  He is 6 days old--can I take the marbles out of the water?  He still has curled toes and although I guess they are better he still does not walk on his feet right.  I am hoping the vitamin stuff will help and I will keep up the band aids.
