Please help baby chick found cold and barely breathing on bottom of cage

Please pleas please help me! My daughter found her baby chicken on the floor of its cage upside down this morning and it was very cold to the touch and barely breathing. I rubbed it and we are trying to keep it warm. It is now peeping and does not want to be on its back to be rubbed anymore. My daughter is holding it keeping it warm and we know thats the most important thing, but what else can we do. I really want this chick to survive. Can anyone help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
 
Do you have a heat lamp? It might be good to put the chick in a box under a lamp (anything from a desk lamp to a lamp from the hardware store). Also, is it eating or drinking? Using an eyedropper to make sure it's staying hydrated would probably be a good idea.

We dont have a heat lamp, but will probably be getting one today. All 4 of the other chicks are fine and I will try the dropper thing. I know it is starting to get stronger, I just dont want my daughter to have to deal with losing her "baby" as she calls it. Thank you so much.
 
It is drinking now and starting to try to peck. It is not back up to par yet but is doing better. thanks for the help
 
You really need to get that heat lamp asap!! Chicks need to be able to get warm frequently and as needed because much like our real babies they cannot control their own body temps until they are feathered!! If you have any questions about how to set up your chick place please ask!!
 
We are working on getting everything together for them. I just hope it makes it. Poor little thing. I want to cry every time I see it or see my daughter looking at it. Its heart breaking
 
A heat lamp is good. Hang in over a brooder with enough space so the little one can move around and sit under it or away from it as she chooses. Keep the chick there for at least two weeks with the lamp on all the time. Tell your daughter to put the chick under her shirt, against her skin with her hand over it. The chick will love it and her body heat will warm the chick up nicely.
 
This same thing happened to one of my new chicks last week. I thought it was dead and I picked it up to remove it but it just barely moved. Ice cold. I warmed it in my hands and then put it in our incubator. It took a few days to perk up totally but she is fine now! Just keep her warm.
 
We have been trying to keep it warm, sadly it has taken yet another turn for the worse. Its breathing is so shallow you can barely see it at all. It has released its bowels a lot and will not drink, eat, open its eyes, peep, or move. I do believe this is the end for my daughters beloved "honey". I pray that she is not in any pain. We are just waiting for her to take her last breath now. Thank you all for the help and I just wish I could have done more.
