Muscovies?????

Actually neither

Black and white are both dominate colors so a black+white= black and white pied, see white co dominates with any other color which is why you see birds with white and black on them or white and blue on them or even white and chocolate on them,

A dilution gene in black is ho you get blue, and you can't make a dilution genes duck, the dilution is there or its not, so a blue with a black would make more blue ducklings and maybe a few black ducklings, as of the lacing thats a pattern and i have no information to share about genetics and patterns only genetics and colors you'll have to refer to this website. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...=HH5eaqdFHtJM55u0A5QOLg&bvm=bv.79189006,d.eXY

Awesome thank you :)

This is why I love muscovy
They are very friendly
They are like dogs they follow me in a row and wag there tail
They come in varies colours
They are very social
They keep bugs under control
Good meat
And I think they are beautiful

I have 2 Rouen Ducks that are pets and I love them. They have so much personality. My duck is a little noisy and can be moody sometimes. But my drake (Winston) is a suck, hes very quiet and loves to be pet and handled (which is odd for any duck).... and I think their colours are beautiful..... My drake is just starting to get his bright green head, and he has a gorgeous metallic blue on his wings!.....
I think you see a lot of Pekins because the make the best house duck (If that's what your looking for)....and Muscovy's are master bug hunters, sit near a couple muscovys and you won't be bothered by any misquittos. A lot of ppl get them for their farms to keep the bugs in check... Every breed has its special ability.... Some breeds do better as pets then others, you can't just pick on looks, especially if your looking for a pet!.... Do lots of research!

I love my Scovies. They are friendly to people but very protective over the flock and will actually protect them from critters that go after them at night so I worry less about them than my chickens. They will come and sit with me and eat out of my hands and are not flighty like some other ducks. We have 11 ducks right now and I have all colors ranging from blue, black, white, silver, lilac, brown and then you have the barring which makes their feathers look amazing. Mine will follow me around the yard and will talk to me when I go outside. It's awesome.

I just recently became the proud mommy of 8 muscovies. I am still learning what they like and what they do. I have a huge pond that they love. I did not know they needed a cage. Mine do not wander though. I live out of town and have 3 acres. My neighbour did not want them any longer and gave me them. I thought I was getting 2 but 8 it was. :) They are very quiet ducks but they are quite friendly. I have had them 2 months and can feed them by hand sometimes. LOL I also have many blueberry bushes and they LOVE them. I don't find them ugly at all and I love how they wag their tales at you. I talk to mine a lot and they seem to like it. Will need help on how I get them ready for winter. I am in Nova Scotia.

Muscovies are the best. They are smart and funny. I swear they have a sense of humor. They have long memories. I joke to my husband that they have named us, Treats (DH), and Digger (thats me). They know when you want to pick them up, a very unduck like, rude thing to do and scatter. They go from barely moving to hyper speed before you actually finish the thought of, hey grab that one. They know if you're working hard and not paying attention to them, they mob you, stand between your legs, on your feet, on your shovel and snatch at your hands while pulling weeds. The going assumption is, eventually it's going to end up in tasty goodies for them. They do play games... (sigh). Ok, total duck dork moment. To entertain and get ducklings used to you.... you need a fly swatter. Really, sit on the ground near them and ignore them. Swat flies. At first it freaks them out, loud noise, and sudden movement. Than they start to get it, they absolutly love it. Race each other to the prize. Add a fluty trill when they get their mangled fly corpse and a actual (not mythical) fly hunting muscovy is born. Trill when they get one on their own. God I sound like the crazy bird lady, but seriously, what interactive games or enterainment for ducks have you come up with? No judging! They magically appear when I'm near our mealworm sack in the shed. They can actually make their eyes larger when they are begging for food. I swear, it's like they suck their facial feathers in and bug out their large and limpid eyes, "Please sir, may I have a meal worm?" They are very people aware, you can see them eying you up and down, assesing your treat potential. Muscovies are awesome.
