My chicks in their temperary daytime pen

Their previous temp home had no top. It was a disaster as a cat killed 3 of 6. leaving me with just 3 older chicks. :( Well anyway, this is their new temp home. I plan to build a large pen for them later.

Do they have access to that pen overnight? If so... do you have raccoons? they will rip a bird apart with that kind of spacing..

I haven't seen any coons out here since the zoo captured several and had them PTS (big coon outbreak with distemper).
They do have access to the pen at night. Last night was their first time out over night cause they are now fully feathered. They took off in as soon as it got dark.
I know there is a risk with them being outside over night. But I wanted to see how they'd do and if they'd go in on their own.

I don't want to lose any more chicks. although two of my 3 that are outside will be butchered in a month or two. They are roosters.
