At what age are my chickens concidered grown and wont get any bigger?. Mine are 3 months old and pretty big nowThey look grown to me but will they get bigger?.

My run/ coop is 20 ft long now portable, sort of need more wheels.I move it daily.

I built a 4 x 8 portable  run for them, they grew bigger,  and now a extension run  of 2x8.They still dont look like they have enough room to me but they do run thru it all and dont peck each other and act ok. No fights..i hav 9 acres and cows for neighors plenty of land to run but hawks  and big dogs intghe next fence too..Hate to put some out at the preditors mercy.

I have 11 chickens ,3 LIght Brahmas, 2 Barred Rocks,3 Buff Orps and 3 EE's.All good size breeds.

I clearly didnt think this  thru well when i bought 11 tiny fluffballs  in March instead of the 3 i was a going to get. Chicken math They are getting so big!!!

They seem to be ALMOST grown when they start laying - anywhere from 5-7+ months.  Sorry to tell you that at 3 months they still have quite a bit of growing to do.

Our good sized run looked huge when our chicks were small.  They quickly turned it to dirt as they grew.  Now we run 3' high wire fencing from Menard's with t-posts around the enclosed run so they get more run-time during the day.  It's not perfectly secure, but it keeps (most of) them in and would slow down a predator until I got out there.  Maybe that is an option for you instead of just putting them "out at the predators mercy"?

WOW not grown yet?  bow.gif.

Yeah i will have to do something more.

I have a big dog who is out a lot while they are in the run  but if i let them out all the way she probably couldnt keep herself from chasing them unless they attacked her and that wouldnt happen i guess.Shes a chicken

I dont think i have the heart to just let them out of the yard to go willy nilly. I have other big dogs that would kill them for sure  if they flew into that yard and the ppl on the road drive fast too, plus hawks all over and loose neighbor  dogs.

Thats a  really good idea... maybe around   the  perimeter just chicken wire and conduit pipe bent in a loop  like a 1 1/2 'high? Not much weight so movable too. More run time as you say and cheaper than more wood pen.     Hummm Thanks
