Another update:
Freckles seems to be healing wonderfully!!
We've been administering the Baytril twice daily and once a day doing a <just can't say the 'M' word one more time> check. After a hands-on check, we wash wounds out with hydrogen peroxide, rinse really well, then slather on Neosporin. Yesterday we ("only") found 6 of the little yuckers; today we found none! Of course that made me a little nervous -- worried that I might have missed some -- but at the same time I was sooOo happy. For today, I opted to go with happy.
He doesn't seem to be eating his grain, but he's chowing down on the fresh garden peas we're providing and he's drinking wonderfully. He's moving about in his room, pooping fine, stretching, just generally looking good for a duck that was in bad shape such a short time ago.
