ANT Poison for yard

What -if any-  poison can I use to get rid of the red biting ants in my yard. They are everywhere!! I have used the food grade DE but that isn't enough. I have 30 hens and they free range during the day. Not sure if I trust the pest control co. as they tell me it's safe after it drys. But the hens pick thru EVERYTHING and stuff gets rinsed off and rain happens... Thank you.

My yard is infested with ants, too.  I would like to kill them, but I worry about my chickens too.  It's awful.

Try a lot of DE along their path...my birds just eat the ants around here, but they are black greese ants....

These are tiny RED ants that bite. If you disturb them they come barreling out and attack!! Make little pyramid hills of fine sand. I will try the DE again and again.

Thanks for the reply!
