Yolks keep breaking

Does it matter where u put the light on the egg when u candle it? I candled mine on day 7 and when u put the light on the side of egg and look at it, the yolk is the entire length of the egg, settled on the bottom. I could see veins in them, and a blood ring on one. I'll try to post pics when I get home too cuz I'm not describing it to we'll. Oh and thank u for ur help too by the way. It's such a relief being able to ask advice from people who know what they are doing.

It makes a big difference. Always try and candle from the top (fat end) with the light going down through the air cell. Veins are GOOD, that shows growth.

Below is the same egg in each picture

First off, try candling about day 12. Sometimes it's hard to see what's going on in there until there's some definite development. And like others have mentioned, if you're pretty sure the yolk is broken, you should crack the egg open to see what's going on. If my eggs don't hatch or develop I always open them to try and figure out what went wrong. Sometimes they aren't fertile to begin with. Are you opening the incubator a lot? Temperature swings are hard on the eggs.
Veining is good, let those eggs be and see what happens. And it also helps if you are in a VERY dark room when you candle. I will open my bator, quickly put all of my eggs into a carton, then shut all of the lights off except the candler. You would be surprised how much difference total darkness can make when you are trying to see inside of a darker shelled egg. Anyway, I'm no expert, that's just my 2 cents. Hope you have some fluffy butt success soon = )

Day 12 is way into incubation. Duck eggs show very well when candled, leaving no doubt. We hatch 100's a year candling at day 7 to check development, day 14-18 to toss duds and early quitters, and at day 25 for lockdown.

here is one that is day 5. it looks ok. go figure! lol. the yolk looks intact and there are veins and when i shine the light on it, it looked like the embryo was moving. so does this look normal?
