Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I cooked another one in the oven a couple days ago and have 6 chunks wrapped in foil and frozen. Quick and easy eating.

I spent a lot of time driving today returning shoes I bought on Amazon. Drove to Staples in Chehalis and they said they couldn't take it... had to go to a real UPS store. 40 miles burned up.

So I drove to the UPS store in Longview and finished the return. That was another 60 miles. Oh well, at least the chore is done.
There is a place in Chehalis that takes UPS, FedEx and Postal packages. It's on Market St, just south of Safeway. It might be actually on Jackson Hwy, which is what Market St turns into on the south side of town. If you take the 13th St offramp, instead of going left to Safeway, go right and you'll see it on the right about 2 or 3 blocks down next to a little Mexican Restaurant. Wish I could remember the name of it. It's not one of the big chains, but they take everything.

BTW, don't recommend the little Mexican Restaurant. lol

Thanks Valerie. I think the problem with my return was that it was a packageless return, and all I was provided with was a QR code; no actual shipping label.

I was told at the official UPS store that they seal the unwrapped item in a plastic bag, and it goes into a bulk shipping container. Or something like that.

Places that aren't owned/ran by UPS aren't set up for this type of QR code return shipping, so that's why Staples wasn't able to take it.

I was perturbed for just a little bit, muttering expletives as I walked away from the Staples customer service desk. I'd calmed down by the time I got into my truck. LOL

Oh, I had one of those returns. Can't remember now where I took that one. After that I made sure I got a label. And prime. I only buy items on Prime because of the easy returns.

I recently bought some hard to find tea on Amazon and the seller sent me the organic version, which is not what I ordered and not what I wanted. It isn't as good as the original. So I talked with someone at Amazon on their chat function and they refunded my money and told me to toss the tea. But that might have been because we're a prime member.

We cant get the produce here. Neighbor at the other end of the street takes it for his cows. He asked all the places within a reasonable distance years ago. He's very recognizable with his beater 80s hatchback he uses to collect it all. We always wave. He asked if he could bail our front yard before but it stays too damp to run a tractor over it at the proper time.

That would be have to ask our tiny grocer if they let folks get that.
Sitting here with my mcmuffin great breakfast.
The garden may dry out today?

I'm lucky that I'm able to get that stuff at the store. I saw three boxes yesterday on the way out running errands. When I returned they were all gone, so I'm not the only one taking advantage of the free produce scraps.

I'm getting a lot more picky too. I used to take all the boxes and ended up tossing a lot of it into the compost because it wasn't chicken friendly.

Now I sort through everything. Today there were three boxes. I sorted the stuff my hens would like into one and left the other stuff for someone else.

No rain in the forecast for the next 10 days on this side of the road. I watered this morning, and will water every morning until it rains again.

I decided where I'm going to plant my black currant cuttings. The little sticks in dirt are doing so well now that some of them are blooming. I picked all the flower buds off so all their energy would go toward growth.

I mowed the grass super short where the new berry patch will go. I have a roll of heavy kraft paper and a bunch of broken down boxes that I'll lay directly over the short grass. I'll cover that with a layer of compost and woodchips, then plant the currants through the layers.

I'll plant some raspberries, too. Getting some from my DIL one of these days. It'll be nice to have a berry patch.

Hey I just thought I am building a new sourdough starter to use on my plants figure like make a triple size.
Never use metal with it.
use a plan or vanilla yogurt equal part yogurt to milk or buttermilk.
Second day add unbleached flour.
Next day add hot 110 water equal flour.
Also do not put a lid on this it will explode.
I am using a chocolate milk container from Costco I drilled two wholes in the lid.
