Here is a resource for those whom are interested in breeding "outside" of the box. This is reserved for members whom have questions, concerns or just want to show off what they have done so far. Please keep the posts to what you are actually trying to create not what the fence jumper did to your beloved hens.

So I'll begin, I have been working on Lavender Wheaten Ameraucana's for which seems like forever. Here are my results. I begin my diversifying phase this winter. You can see most of my notes here. I have a couple more projects I am beginning this winter....stay tuned.

And we've also been getting lavender silvers. Everyone had been culling them, but I am going to grow out a few in hopes of getting a lav silver duckwing hen. After seeing how pretty Chicken Stalker's LWs came out, I I am dying to see how a salmon breast would handle the dilution.
 
Awesome! BTW I have millie project going...they said it was impossible but so far so good. Legs are solid slate

no blotches due to the molting gene. This young hen came in my order from John Blehm last year.......an anomaly YES! Out crossing her this winter.

The mottling gene does not affect slate legs in millie.Don,t know why but look at the D,uccles.It seems black plumage has the problem.

I have a Autosexing Red Barred Araucana progect on my mind for like the past 2 years, just havent have time to even start, but I do have all the genetics pinned down(shank color, Red Barring, autosexing e allele)

Now don't yell at me, I', trying to create a crested Ameruacana (right now I'm using EE's because that is what I have available), and (I don't know alot about genetics), not trying for any paticular right now just trying to get all the cossings down.

I agree.It is discourageing to get a lot of negative feed back.As to leg color issues I feel that as long as the underlying genetics are slate and a way around this issue can not be found we should make allowences for genetic realities.Chocolate have chocolate legs.Mottling,barring, and pied genes produce spotted legs. I have been able get slate legs on a few birds with the barring gene.I have hopes of stablizing these genes.It seems this leg color problem is not there on certain color patterns like millie and maybe red.There are others I am sure.
 
I have had cuckoo birds start out with pale slate legs, but they fade as they mature. Still- the fact that they are able to show some color for any period of time is encouraging.

I agree though- excluding otherwise beautiful varieties because of one genetic "glitch" doesn't seem fair.
