Are there any pheasant breeds which I can let hatch their own babies and raise them? And feed?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I knew it could be done! Great info and great to know about the Gambels quail, too. I really do want to watch them going at this.

It is rewarding to watch the family as a group behave as they would in the wild half a world away!!

I have three Golden phesant hens and one Cock. Earlier this year two of the hens sat on about 9 eggs. Two were not fertile, but the rest died before hatching. Any idea what could have gone wrong, and how to stop it happening again please? It was very distressing for them

I had 5 hen pheasants and combined for a total of 42 chicks hatched these where pen raised ring neck pheasants and I got a chicken tractor and let the hens raises there babies in there room to grow and get bugs and grass with mom but still be with here and close for warmth all you need is make very think cover for them to hide and don't be moving stuff around to much in and out quick and just let the hen be you will know when she is ready she will make a deep hole in the dirt usually and likes a structure like a support pole or log with over top cover

Hi there,
What type of cover and sq. footage do you have for your pheasants? Just wondering as we are building a new aviary. Thank!

I have 6x12 and 8x16 pens with xmas trees in for them to hide behind.Bigger pens are always better, but not everyone has the space to make bigger pens. These pens work fine for my birds and I only keep a pair or a trio in them. You may get away with a quad in goldens and amherst, but I wouldn't try any other species in a quad in these size pens.If your talking about ringnecks each state has a requirement for them for sq ft per bird. Here in N.H. it's 25 sq ft.per bird.
In N.H.,Tony.

I have a pair of ring neck pheasants. The hen sat her eggs and hatched two. It was very hot and I was gone and did not make sure of their well being. Any how, Iost both of the chicks. This was my first experience. I hope the hen will sit again and be able to raise her own.
