trying to understand sex-linked genetics

I wonder if Golden Males will look intermediate between gold and silver as Silver is not completely dominant over gold...

You know I have hatched out a lot of golden males in the past few years but never did a down color study as they were from mostly rogue silver based hens; game/phoenix crosses. This year I will be crossing a BBR game male onto these (greys) silver hens. I will have to mark these biddies and take pictures as this thread has sparked interest in this area. I like the golden duckwing color and a lot of people like them too, in the end this helps the money situation a little bit as it all goes towards the larder in the end Huh?

Awesome, I would love to see your results(with pics) and I will learn alot from them, thanks, as we speak I am Isolating the Dominant Dilute gene found on Lemon buff(self buff birds) and will introduce it to gold wildtype birds to produce true breeding golden duckwing

here is thread I started with pics and all..

LOL...I think I need to go find a genetics for dummies book.

I think I can see the difference in the gold/silver chicks in that picture, but I am not sure it is really much more distinct than the normal difference between mal/female silver greys. (I cant even really understand the genetic reason for that difference...just know that I can see it)

henk have you hatch light brown and silver duckwing dutch at the same time?, how hard is to distinguish silver chipmunk and gold chipmunk chickd down on none red enhanced birds like dutch? I would guess the gold chicks would be just a bit darker but its always hard for me to tell them apart, its not an easy task sexing them(s+/- females from S/s+ males)
They are similar, but yes you can see a difference. I have one occasion though were a silver looking chick became a gold hen.
