I was sick of rodents eating our expensive chicken feed so I put together one of these mouse traps from five gallon ideas. I think it's the easiest possible way to take care of mice without having to reset your trap after every catch.

Sorry if this has been covered before, I just wanted to share a great technique!

what is it a plank idea? mouse tries to get the peanut butter and cant reach it and falls to the bottom of the bucket and cant get out? wheres that piece of wood go?

The wood just goes right to the ground so the mouse can climb up. The mouse can usually reach the peanut butter but the can actually rotates on its axle which the mouse is not expecting.

This is what I do but I like yours better. I have to reset mine.

Just a note. You see the water in the bottom of Trevmillion's trap. Mice can jump really well. They probably can't jump out of a five gallon bucket but they could a shorter one. Water in the bottom keeps them from being able to jump.

In the first bucket it's actually antifreeze because it prevents the mice from rotting. That particular trap is used in a cabin that is only visited occasionaly.
