please help me, new timer and 2 sick girls...

Please help me, first time chicken owner I have 6 girls and 5 of them i have had for about 6 mths. and there age is 1 and 2 yrs. old. 2 black astralop sorry about spelling and 2 barred rocks. last week we got a golden comet not sure of age, and now i have to barred rock that seems very sick, one eyes are both shut together and other has one eye shut, I have seen no draing from there nose and have heard no cough or sneeze from these two, but one girl sound like her breathing has fluid in lungs, and now she sounds like she is crying, Idk iam just guessing she is and making my heart hurt so bad, and this all has started this morning. called vet and he still hasnt called me back. Please help me with any suggestions you my have.

check to see if there are any other areas on the bird with blisters or other blemishes. also check both the feed in the feeders and in storage for any mold or fungus growth.
 
sounds like respitory illness, if it we're my bird id start tylan50 large birds dose is 1/2 cc once a day for 5 days, smaller birds are 1/4 cc once day for 5 days. you can give the shot in one of two places, nape of neck or best. you tube had a great instructional video on how to do it if your nervous. id go with the injectable as opposed to a water soluable antibotic because its a higher concentration and dose is more consistant. on the bottle of tylan 50 it says for cattle and swine,not to worry many poultry owners including myself have had excellent luck using for respitory illness. i use a dieabetic syringe because its smallest but i believe you can get the syringe at the feed store along with the tylan 50.start dose as soon as possiable. the injection is much easier than you think to administer. they should show improvement in the next few daysplease keep us posted on how they are doing. i how this is helpful. best wishes!
 
there are fuggi that can grow in feed that can cause eye issues and avian pox often causes issues with the eyes, but usually also on other parts without feathers. It seems you can rule both of those out. Pink eye from salmonella could be a source, but ocular mareks is more likely. if that is it there isn't much tht can be done.
 
Thank you so much for your information, and from others we are pretty sure it is a respitory infection, my poor girls sound awful when they breath. We were able to purchase the medication and have had there first dose and praying we caught it in time. They were fine yesterday. Again thank you so much for your input.
 
So far my girls made it through the night, eyes are still sealed shut and they still sound awful but maybe a tad bit better, but to hard to say
 
They made it one more night, I didn't know if they would or not, they sound like they have pneumonia and bad. They have had two doses of tylan, I wish it would work quicker. :-(
 
Iam so sad, I woke up this morning and checked on my girls and my most beautiful barred rock passed. She was big and beautiful and lots of personality. Iam in total shock, they were on day three of meds, and I have been force feeding them pedilight and I really thought things were starting to work her one eye was finally starting to open. Iam so sad about it, we have only had them for about 5 mths. And our first flock and a small flock started with 5 and added a new one just two weeks ago. I love my girls, didn't think I would get so attached to them .
