chick biteing me

Are you sure she's pecking out of aggression and not curiosity? I've never had a hen chase people around, but I have had some that run right up and start pecking out of curiosity. They go for moles, fingernails, shoelaces, whatever might potentially be food. I don't think disciplining her will have much effect.
^agreed. I can't imagine 'disciplining' a chicken like that will have any effect other than possibly making her less likely to be comfortable around you. Mine 'bite' when they're hungry and I'm giving treats that they all get really excited about. When I first put my hand in there they go a little bananas and peck a little rough. I simply take my hand out and wait for them to calm themselves before putting it back in.

If you haven't tried giving her treats, then I'd recommend doing that. Perhaps the way to a chickens heart is through its...er...crop

I had one that was being picked on. They plucked all the feathers off the back of her neck. She would peck me when I tried to touch her. I simply started picking her up, holding her in my arms and petting her when she did. Now she follows me like a puppy.

I thought itbwas curiosity but she will grab my skin at times and kinda pull. I give them a different treat every night and even have toys for them.

Also she will come running from wherever and grab me. She started fluffing out her neck feathers today when I was grabbing the waterer to change.

Are you the same person as the original poster? Two different usernames here, and it's confusing me.

When they start acting agressive walk towards them or pick them up so they know who is boss but be gentle with them. And don't act afraid of them.

Thanks You guys so much. I took Stella outside today, my biting hen and carried her around and when I put her down she jumped in my lap. Hasn't bitten at all today. I'm so happy.

I Have an 8 week old barred rock That will run at me and bite. She has a companion and a whole room that has boxes with holes for her to stay in. We Have Just finished with our hopefully last snow storm of the year so they will.be going outside in Thursday When I'm off to monitor. I have tried holding her down When She bites then releasing her and "pecking" her back if She tries again but its everyday I have to do this. Is this normal? Will she eventually learn I an head chicken? Any other techniques I could try?
I have a chick that is probably 3-4 wks old. However i Have no Idea the breed. most people say it looks like a barred rock but my chicks shanks are dark and the toes are yellow. Anyway, my chick does the same thing it will fly right at my face sit on my shoulder then try pecking at my face and neck. My face has a few blemishes and freckles but the chick doesn't bite my face, at first anyway. The minute it pecks my face i make it get down. I've tried discipline on the pecking. It sometimes works. Mind you this is a chick that is free range/house chick when shes not in her box(in process of building her House) we are messing around in the yard or in the house. She's pretty much only in her box to sleep. She's the only one we have and we bought her to be a pet. She sits on my lap and sleeps, cleans her feathers etc.....and if I leave the room squawks until she can see me to follow me from room to room. However the "aggression" if that's what it is annoys me to no end. Especially the need to be right in my face. No matter how many times I take her down or stop her in mid jump shes right back to doing it!!! Any suggestions? Oh and the sex is unknown as well I just refer to it as she. Maybe Roo behavior?
