Duck breeders in wisconsin

Hello again I just wanted to see how everyone is doing. I have been breeding ducks and geese this year, selling the babies and maybe keeping a few.

has anyone been worried about the h5n2 bird flu virus thats going though the states. spreading with wild waterfowl. I have mostly geese and ducks so they cant die from it but they can spread it to others. I did get two turkeys this spring so i hope they will be fine. i do live by two lakes to we have geese flying over us all the time. now they are molting so its not that bad now but i am still worried. I did test my birds myself last year for it as i was bringing a few birds to the fair. so i took a class to test my birds myself and got certified to test my own birds and others. All of my birds were clean last year. but the antigin expires soon so i need to get a new one. and its expensive for 1000 tests and i only need a few.

so if anyone else wants to have there birds tested I can come out and test your birds for very little normaly per bird $.50 per just so i dont have to waste the rest of the antigin again. I am located in south east wi by holy hill or more common washington county area.

if anyone is interested pm me

I will be buying the antigin soon and will buy it if i get enough people to help use it.

Hi. I am not to worried about it spreading to my birds because we dont have many wild birds fly over. Just some predators and robins. I am just trying to keep up good bio security and not were my coop shoes anywhere but in the coop. Hope you find someone.

I have 19 duck eggs in the incubator with 8 days left. I will post pictures when they hatch.

I’m in Erin,Wisconsin. Anyone know any breeders of any white duck varieties that are in southeast Wisconsin?

Also, what would be a white breed that would be hardy and quiet and not flighty? Thanks so much!
I have Caygas, pekins, and Welsh Harlequins, they are all great and I love them!!!

Oh I will do.

I am also wondering the pros and cons of various white duck breeds. On some websites, people say that Pekins and crested ducks are extremely nervous and loud, and other websites say they are extremely calm and friendly! Talk about opposite opinions! I’ve also heard that pekins die really easily, but others think they are hardy! …… advice welcome!!!
