I just hatched some chicks and they are the cutest things on earth. i was wondering if there is any way to tell if they are male or female. The rooster we own is black, while our chickens are white and red. Will color be a factor. We have one black chick and three yellowish turning white. One even has a black tuft of feather on it's back. Please reply

Could you post some photos? You can usually tell gender at eight weeks of age or so, so if you just hatched them, we probably will not be able to tell. As far as I know, a black bird mated to a red or white hen does not produce sex-linked chicks (chicks which are different colors depending on their sex at hatch/adulthood), so color will not likely be a factor.

i will try to post a pick of each of them. and the rooster and hens

Thanks the black one was the first to hatch, and was being a bit of a bully but when he pecked the smallest one it walked right over and pecked him back so he seems to have learned a lesson.
