Feeding barley

Hi. I was wondering if it was ok to feed my girls some barley?
I have a home brewing husband that has seeped some for his latest batch of beer and I wanted to know if it's ok for them to eat it. ")

I tried feeding barley to my flock and it was not very popular. I have read that it is hard for them to digest, however, that may not be an issue if it has been soaked or cooked in some way.
