Found it this morning. Can I eat the egg? Doesn't look like a meat spot at all.

Hard to tell from the photo but just looks like a blood spot?

I'm guessing by now you have probably decided if you will eat it, I would just pull it out with a spoon.

Looks like a normal meat spot to me.

FYI, blood spots happen on the yolk. Meat spots happen in the white. Don't want to gross you out, but it's a bit of sloughed off tissue from the reproductive tract. Use the tip of a knife to take it out, then eat the egg.

Just looks like fertile egg! Do you have a rooster? You can eat it, you'll be fine anyway!

@roostersandhens There is no way to tell from the photo whether the egg is fertile or not. Meat spots have nothing to do with fertilization. The way to tell if an egg is fertile is to look for the germinal disk on the yolk. If it is the same opacity all the way through, the egg has not been fertilized. If it is more transparent in the middle--has a bullseye appearance--then the egg has been fertilized. Here are photos to help you out. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/16008/how-to-tell-a-fertile-vs-infertile-egg-pictures
