Bought from a bird auction for the 1st time... Help!!!!

In addition to the quarantine, you might want to tend your original flock first, then tend the newbies. Change your shoes, or perhaps do a bleach wash to the soles of your shoes when moving between flocks. Agreed: I'd be more worried about the problems that are not visible that might be carried to your healthy flock. It's my intention to keep a closed flock for this reason.

Doesn't matter what we think. That's your decision to make. Personally, I don't keep sick birds. My flock has great motivation to stay healthy--around here you get better fast or you get culled.

There is nothing "awful" about culling sick birds. People do it all the time. Is it better to spend all kinds of money to keep a sick bird around, treating it and ultimately facing the possibility of having to treat the rest of your flock, or give the suffering ones a quick end and keeping the rest of your flock healthy?

It won't really cost anything to treat the leg mites
All you need to do is use spray on cooking oil to smother them.

Culling now won't stop any disease they might have brought with them, although there's nothing wrong with culling if you just don't want to keep them

I think that for me. If they were a good strong stock it might be worth it. But I really only have the Cochins I have because they are great parents. I will cut my loses and valuable lessons have been had. I have my chickens in the process of treating. Note to self auction are to get rid of birds that don't make the cut. I will bring my cockerels there in the spring, as long they are healthy! Lol. Thanks for your impute. I am pretty sure they are old as well so chicken heaven they go. :(

Good luck! Sorry you have to cull that is always heartbreaking, but like you said lesson learned.
