Please help with sick peacock

This is a cross post since I didn't get any response in the emergency forum. I thought maybe I might get more info here.
Right after Christmas, I was deworming all the chickens & when I grabbed my 5 month old peacock, he was breathing with a heavy gurgling. I immediately removed him to a quarantine coop along with 2 other chickens showing similar symptoms.
I've been treating daily with liquamycin (oxytetracycline 200) straight down the hatch (.6 ml peacock, .3 small chicken), plus putting tetracycline soluble in their water.
It has been 9 days. The chicken seemed to be improving, but not the peacock. Then last night, the chicken had a runny nose & gurgling like the peacock. I put acv in the water (no meds) to help clear mucus.
I have Tylan 200 injectable available, but was wondering if I should wait a couple days & feed them probiotics before starting another round of antibiotics.
I don't like giving a shot & prefer oral medication, but can give a shot if absolutely necessary.
On a side note: my local vet has seen a couple chickens b4, but doesn't seem to know much about them. BYC has proven far more valuable than the vet's advice.
 
Hang in here someone here should be able to help you here , i don't have much experience with sick birds but others here have delt with peafowl ailments.
 
Thanks. I'm thinking I should feed probiotics a few days then start with the Tylan. I didn't want to over medicate them cuz antibiotics kill good bacteria too

Most oral antibiotics need to be given at least twice a day, so call your vet and ask them to recommend an amount to give your peacock. I don't use Tylan 50, Tylan 200 or oxytetracycline, so I can't tell you how much you should give him. Doesn't matter that your vet doesn't know much about poultry, any vet can look a swab under the scope and let you know if he has a bacterial infection or something else. Once a vet does that they can look up the appropriate medication and dose for your bird.

If your peacock has a runny nose and gurgling he will need a shot of tylan 200 @.50cc/ml. You can either inject it into a grape and hope he eats it or you can inject it directly to the bird. I do all my shots the same way - between the shoulders at the base of the neck and insert the needle just under the skin by gently pulling those feathers upward so you can see the skin easier. If you have baytril I give them the shot in the same place too but use tylan 200 first and the baytril as last resort. You cannot use baytril on poultry for meat or eggs. Hello every body, I need some advise and help with my 9 week old black shoulder Peachick! She has been sneezing and breathing with her mouth open and gasping for air! We have had her on Terra-Vet 10 as well as sav-a-chic electrolytes for over a week and a half and she's not improving but not getting worse. Is she to younge to dose with Tylan 50? What dose would I give her just to be safe? Thank you!
 
A little more background information please. Is the bird kept in a cage off the ground or outside on the dirt? What have you been feeding it? Is it a medicated feed? Are there other birds on the property? Are they in the same pen?
 
I bought her 4 weeks ago and built a portable cage and during the day if it warm I take her outside and set her cage on the grass. I bought her and a indian blue they are the Sam age and were kept together until I notived she was sick and I separated them. He has grown alot and she seems to have not grown at all. I feed them a game bird /showbird 22% protein crumble. I do have a three yr old paint of India blue's and a pair of 5 month old peas as well as 16 chickens. I hope I havent done anything that has made her sicker by putting her on the grass. Thank you for your reply!
