New to Chickens

Seems as the option to load images doesnt always activate, might be due to internet speed but I got them loaded finally in Gallery under Libyan Chicks. And as I can write I will put them on my blog www.libyaswildlife.blogspot.com a place for all the critters to chat. I remember a old friend who had a newspaper written by their pets they were such fun to read, this was over 22yrs ago. I loved the style and my girls always make up such neat stories about our animals. Wish I coyld get them more active.

My kids are officially banning me from the chicken isle lol, least til we find a house. Went with a friend and we found a man with 5 boxes of chicks. I got 10 for 17 dinar. So around 50 cents usa money. 4 turkens by feathering I got two sets, after the man got me mixed up and if feathering is accurate I got a bunch of roos lol! Its ok depending on breeds they will be kept. Most every adult here sells for 25 dinars. So I could do well breeding. Most here have bumble foot and dont look well once you get past the ohh factor. But I now must wait til I get a house cause I just doubled my household. I think my grey banded might be a Holland? Here I find out they are named on place of origin. I saw polish but he said Germany. Its ok. Got 4 kilos of chick feed to. Separated them into 2 boxes for now 1 oddball with the turkens. When I can I will post pics. Inlaws returning today from jordan and surgeries so im going down stairs for now.

Ok if i can do this right without mixing them up I will show you my newest additions...then honestly I need my hands and wallet tied til I get a bigger house. My daughter Aieysha was so kind and built me a house for 5 of my babies out of two fruit crates yesterday. I was so please I asked her to make one for the other five today. So a trip to the fruit market is only out im doing haha.
Here goes with the introductions:
Emu
Truffle

Domino
San
Andre the Giant
Uno
Diamond
Nana (good luck in japaneese)
Ashley
Vulture
Now to add more fun to the deal I will post based on feather length what I think i have male/female wise.
Boys Emu, Domino, Andre the Giant, Uno, Diamond, Nana, Ashley
Girls, Truffle, San, Vulture

so as they develop it will be nice to see how accurate that was being that they are all in first week but various breeds and variants. Will post the older ones later today if I get a chance. Everyone beginning to wake up and I have a nice pair of meat scissors I need to reclaim before they disappear into one of the family pockets.

Sitting up late and I will feel it tomorrow. Took most of the day shopping and doing chores. Daughter decided to let the new babies mix with the older 5 so it was mayhem on the balcony watching them scurrying around in their little groups. Since its warm tonight they get rabbit hutch outside with a lamp and blanket for any draft.
Bit of sad news im trying to accept or pray tomorrow for a miracle. My son a few weeks before he was killed bought with his first paycheck here a pair of Indian Ringneck Parrots. One he kept and the female gave to my sister in law. Since females can kill a male he thought it was okay to buy two and keep them close for breeding. Well I guess he was out of his cage in the bedroom and my daughter went in, it scared him and somehow he got out and flew right out the balcony door. He landed in a palm outside but refused to return. He flew a bit farther over before it got to cold and late. We are all heartbroken. I know my daughter feels horrible as well. We hope by morning he might fly back home and land in the cage we put out for him. Im so down lately and each month I get further depressed now this. Keeping animals helps me with my depression and losing my sons bird is hard. Life has been full of lemons lately. Im going to find some tulle tomorrow and make some nets to cover our doors and windows. There are no screens and I hate these shutters and privacy glass windows here. I want to see out and have cool air minus bugs, rats, ants and cockroaches.
Try to sleep again its after midnight now.

So, so sorry. Animals are such a comfort, and losing your son's bird hurts. You're helping so many other animals, though, and I hope that helps you as you heal.

Well my two oldest I managed to get nice pics of today. Tagrst and Amwan are doing fine in their new pen. Been a bit nippy past few nights but they seem to be doing fine. Not to hot yet either but will get into 90s this week so I need to make sure shade and water are good. My babies are getting time out on the balcony and we put them in the rabbit hutch at night but I hope to be moved before I need another pen. Showed my pen photos to family and they were impressed that two women haha could do a decent job with few tools and supplies. I finally bought a converter and was able to charge up a set of batteries to power tools hubby sent so next pen will be much better. Just wait. I will try to post their photo to my album here for some reason doesnt work dome days off my tablet
