hi hope someone can give me some good advice would you recommend helping a chick out of the egg if it seems to be taking its time and is struggling . i had just one egg a serama bantom start hatching in a incubator it wasn't progressing very well and had been over 24 hr with just a small hole in the shell the chick sounded quite stressed so I gave it a helping hand and pulled back very gentley a bit of shell eventually the chick hatched out and seemed fine I left it to dry out but about a hr later the chick had died

did I do wrong by trying to help the chick ??? I have another 3 due to hatch tomorrow and hope I can learn from any mistakes .look forward to any replies x

I have helped out lots of chicks and they should be fine as long as teh humiditie is high when you peel them out and do it in short shifts like every hour do a bit more, also that one probably was to tired when you peeled it our thats why it died

thank you for the reply we have managed to hatch out another 4 chicks all doing good my next project is to incubate some lavender buff orpingtons lovely birds x
