Thank you so much for the welcome. I've been following the posts for a year since I started raising silkies and amercaunas. My chickens are like my only tranquility w work and raising my daughter alone!!

Art Entry above.

My mother would take us every other Sunday or so to her Aunt's home. My great Aunt Erna lived on her parents' farm. The house was old fashioned and so were the crafts she did. Among them was painting detailed artistic eggs. At a young age I was fascinated with Aunt Erna's Easter Egg Tree. A branchy curvy willow in a vase with the most beautiful eggs I'd ever seen. I never forgot them. When I was in my twenties I painted these eggs. They are anywhere between 17 to 19 years old right now. Some have broke and are gone due to flying balls and games in my home with children. That's okay...it's life. Just means I need to sit down and make some more and fill my tree a little more. I'm thrilled to take them out and share here on BYC with others fascinated with their egg art!
Dye Entry below.

I went on a tangent one year and did these eggs. I would literally take me a whole evening to do one egg. But love the results. Fascinating and love the folk art feel of these. I really do like them...but as I get older and more nostalgic...I keep looking at the ones that are more similar to Aunt Erna's style.

Happy Easter all you beautiful Egg artists! There's some amazing eggs on here. May I just say, "Wow!"

All I can say is WOW!!! It's going to be hard on the judges to pick out from all these great eggs!!! A lot of great looking ones!!! :)

These are some of my duck eggs done by my 12 year old daughter as a way to earn money for her trip to Ireland next year. She first makes canes from metallic polymer clay and then covers the blown eggs, bake, buff, seal and shine them. I am very proud of her artistic ability and so far she has raised $112 of her $3000.00.

Wow! There needs to be categories such as Fine Art, Ethnic European, Under 12, Craft etc or Sally's Spanish chickens had better be laying up a LOT of prizes!!
