Hello...my girls are 7 weeks old. Can I give them herbs to eat from the garden? Basil, mint, etc?

i think that if the hens eat your herbs, they will be fine, but i'm sure that, if given the choice, they would rather eat grass.
on the other hand.... it doesn't sound like a bad idea to flavour them up from the inside out... maybe you could set up an olive oil waterer next to the sage and rosemary bushes.

My free-ranging hens have lots of herbs to choose from - they just don't eat them.

Yes, grass is a favorite. It is prefered to white Dutch clover and most any other green food.

Zucchini rates quite high and they like melons but tomatoes are at the top as a fresh veggie treat.

I have giant zucchine and yellow squash that must be cut ASAP - the Delightful Dozen will relish them as we cut them up and pass it out. They also like nibbling on the leaves of the squash. But surprisingly they sample and then leave alone my herbs, not sure why, but they try it and move on.

Yes but I found strong smelling herbs like mint lead to strong smelling droppings and not in a good way.

I have rosemary, lavender, and thyme, chives, and my ladies won't eat any of them. I usually turn them out to free range about 3 o clock every day and give them bread for their treats but they eat and scratch the grass around the herbs but won't eat them. They have eat the tomato bushes up as high as they stretch and eat them but nothing else.
