Hello everyone,

For the first time we ordered ducklings via mail. We chose Holderread. We ordered 10. My daughter is asking regularly about when the ducklings will arrive among other questions, but we have not heard anything.

I would like to know any helpful information about your experience(s).
For example, how far in advance did you place your order?
When did you get the first response from them?
Did they confirm your order and in what timeframe?
Where are you located in comparison to them and did the ducks all arrive alive?
Did they ship extra?
What are they shipped in?

I think that is about everything she has asked me. :) Really, any information you find helpful please share!

Thank you!

I ordered bargain goslings from them. Their first hatch date is supposed to be March 31st. I ordered the end of February and have heard nothing yet.

Have you ordered from them before? We placed our order at the beginning of Feb., so I guess we are in the same boat! What date did you select for desired date? We did the 31st of March.

I never ordered from them before but they have a good reputation. I put ANY since I am not in a hurry. I just read a thread from last year. Somebody who ordered 10 ducklings got 12. Put Holderread in the search box and it will list threads about Holderread.

Thanks, I did do that prior to this thread, but I could not find any recent posts, nor the answers to my daughter's questions. I was hoping to get some information directly. Well, good luck with your order! Please post again when they come, I would love to see them too!

Okay, since there was not much of a resonse, I have another question maybe that could get an answer. On the Holderread website under the ordering information page it says they start contacting mid-March with expected ship dates. In past experiences, did they do this with your order or did you only get contacted for shipment?

Thanks!

I ordered from them last summer ( a bunch of us went in on one large order) and it was quite a variety. A few goslings, some ducklings, and some call ducklings. ABout 35 total (if I remember right).

I sent in $ and the order form in April. I got am email confirming they got my order (I emailed them to check a few weeks after I mailed it as I didn't hear back from them). They told me it would likely be May as that's when they would have the call ducklings.

I literally live on the exact opposite side of the country (MAINE). ALL arrived in perfect healthy and condition and they sent 2 extra ducklings. They had marked the SQ ones so I could differentiate from the non SQ ones, which was great.

They sent them in a normal chick box (it was the double because I had so many) and in each compartment, they noted on the box how many of each type was in which compartment.

If you are worried, I would send them a little reminder email. They usually get right back to you but we are coming into their busy time of the year so I would be patient with them if you don't get a response asap :)

I placed my first order mid March. 10 welsh harlequins and 6 mixed Indian runners. The check I sent has cleared so I know they've received it. I assume because of our late ordering we'll be towards the end of the hatch schedule (which works as we've got khakis brooding at this point in time.). Haven't heard anything but from what I've read it sounds like I won't until right before they ship. We live in NC so I'm hoping it doesn't get to hot before they get here but with the way the winter has been I think it'll work out.
