Cornish rock.....

I know this is a little late to chime in but i think your rooster is a white jersey giant. I have 3 chicks in my batch of 15 cornish cross from ideal this year that from the start looked different. They have greenish legs like yours and the ONLY thing i could find that looks like mine was a white jersey giant. Would explain the slow growth as jersey giants are huge chickens but slow growing.

I agree that is way to small for a Cornish X

It does look small for seven weeks, but there is a slower-growing variety. Also, it does appear to be a cock, but you could vent sex to be sure.

Has anyone successfully crossed cornish rock cross hens with a different rooster? I crossed my black austrolorp rooster with my cornish rock cross hens and I got 5 chicks and I'm just trying to figure out how they will turn out and trying to see if I need to limit the chicks feed. Any info will be very much appreciated.

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but australorps and cornish cross are both used for meat-production (australorps are dual-purpose, though), so the chicks could be treated as broilers, if that's what you plan to do with them. Out of curiosity, what do the chicks look like? I'm guessing that the black feather gene is dominant, so are they going to be black-feathered?

Here is one of the Cornish Rock Cross Chicks. I was surprised they showed white but there are a couple of splashes!

They are larger than the other chicks, but they are only a few days old so i'm not sure if they grow fast yet or not but i'll definitely keep everyone posted on them! Some of them have splashes too! I hope they live long enough for me to breed and get eggs from!

I'll post more pics asap!

My cornish rock cross chick/Australorp chicks are growing very large compared to my regular chicks they act and are the size of the regular Cornish rock cross chicks so far, and most are splashed!
