On my birthday my love of around seven months got down on his knee and presented me with a homemade silver ring. It will be a while before we actually tie the knot but I'm really happy and excited.

We can't afford diamonds, but he spent several hours making this beautiful little thing.
It's made out of an old quarter and you can clearly see the word "Liberty" and the year and everything on the inside

Diamond rings are a construct of the De Beers company to jumpstart the economy after the great depression, nothing romantic about that.
What a special, symbolic gift he gave you! My now DH gave me a silver claddagh ring when he proposed. It's an important part of his heritage, and I wouldn't trade it for the biggest diamond in the world!

Thank you all! And akelly claddagh rings are awesome and part of my heritage as well! I want one so bad. But my fiance is full fledged Italian and probably doesn't even know what one is haha
