when will i hear chirping? HELP!

it healed perfectly! I actually considered culling her at one point, the foot was so bad. it was shipped.
the ankle was twisted so the foot was upside down under the body, the ankle was huuuugely swollen and the toes curled. had been that way for 2 days in shipment.
had fixed toes before, but none that bad. to my complete surprise, it healed PERFECT! I am kicking myself for not taking before photos.

That is great, glad you didn't cull. Pictures would have been great. Oh, well...lets hope there is not another time so you don't get the opportunity to ever take them.

We had a chick starting to hatch yesterday afternoon at about 4pm.. it was chirping all evening, the egg was rocking and I could see the broken shell underneath the egg.... now its 1230 in the afternoon the next day and no more chirping and the egg is no longer moving. I am at 20 hours with this one egg.. should I assume its dead??

this is my expected timeline from my hatches in my incubator conditions:
1. internal pip to external pip: 12hrs
2. external pip to zip start: 12hrs
3. zip start to hatch out: 12hrs

so being that she has been in position #2 for 20 hours I would feel it sufficient time to intervene. This is a very personal decision and is completely up to you if you want to assist the chick (or start opening it to see if it's dead).

Be cautious of opening the incubator if you have any other eggs with external pips. the humidity is very important.
